Today I met with my project lead, professor Paul Hutchison. We had a very productive and informative conversation I found out about the inspiration behind the tutorial he’s teaching “Totally Bananas!” and learned a lot about interesting qualities about bananas and all that makes this fruit special though I’m sure there are many more things I have yet to find out.
along with bananas we discussed the plan for taking this idea of a podcast farther. we scheduled weekly meetings on Tuesdays and discussed timeline of a project, although it’s not completely set now, I have an idea of what to expect and the pace I am required to have. after this meeting I did my accessibility training. although the concept of accessibility was familiar to me, I didn’t know how many resources there were to make digital space accessible.
I didn’t even know we had Tools approved for college use through the ITS Software Review policy, and that it included so many tools I’m definitely interested in exploring some of them. some information shared seemed somewhat intuitive like the usage of logical sequence of headers or colors yet crucial for accessible and overall good-looking website/ digital project.
I think WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool is a great way to double check my work and make sure my project is accessible to general and target audiences, and I will be using it while working on my assigned project.
